At a Glance

Coca-Cola is a brand with worldwide reach, but at its heart, it’s about connecting with people over shared experiences. Since 2012, Mud Mile has helped tell the story of this iconic brand on global stages, in corporate boardrooms, and even across the cornfields of Iowa.

What We’ve Done

  • Developed and distributed content resulting in $42 million in endowment contributions for the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation
  • Led strategic planning for a bottler presentation at a global Walmart conference
  • Produced internal content for Coca-Cola’s CEO and executive leadership team

One Brand, Many Voices

In 2012, Mud Mile partnered with the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation to highlight exceptional high school seniors at its annual Scholars Banquet. Since then, we’ve expanded our partnership to work directly with The Coca-Cola Company, the Scholars Foundation, and over 60 independent bottlers across the United States.

We create and distribute content that balances brand messaging with local storytelling. We call it hyperscale and hyperlocal. Because whether you’re in an Atlanta boardroom or a bottling facility in Missouri, the story needs to have the Coca-Cola flavor.

The Mud Mile Approach: Lean, Modular, and Anti-Agency

We pride ourselves on being the anti-agency. We don’t believe in red tape — we believe in getting things done. Here’s what we bring to the table for Coke:

  • A lean, efficient hybrid team with both news and agency backgrounds. We move fast and think big.
  • A Modular Content Strategy that gives us the freedom to create flexible, scalable content across formats and platforms.
  • A focus on creating futureproofed content for efficiency and longevity, so Coca-Cola gets the maximum value from its investment.

Big Wins Over Many Miles

Every year, we log anywhere from 20,000 to 35,000 miles traveling across the country for Coca-Cola projects. The partnership has taken us to big cities, like New York and Miami, and rural locations across Wyoming, Iowa, and other “flyover” states.

In 2019, we attended an executive leadership event in Vail, Colorado. We gathered content with the Coca-Cola CEO and other executives, quickly turning around daily highlight videos to inspire the company’s leaders.

In 2021, we led strategic planning for the Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company’s presentation at a global meeting with Coke and Walmart. We drove around Iowa to capture what it’s like to manufacture and distribute Coca-Cola products in these small-town communities. (And in the words of Kirk Tyler, Atlantic Bottling chairman, “We by far had the best presentation at that year’s global Coke–Walmart meeting.”)

In 2022, we worked with the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and over 60 U.S. bottlers to create a large-scale content strategy with both traditional and digital components. Those efforts led directly to $42 million in endowment contributions for the foundation.

An Enduring Partnership

Moving forward, we’ll continue to bring our focus on storytelling and story selling to the world’s most recognizable brand. It’s a partnership that makes sense, because at its core, it’s about what we do best: telling great stories.

“The Coca-Cola brand is about giving people these moments where they can connect the brand with a memory, a feeling of happiness,” says Jolene Loetscher, Mud Mile CEO. “That aligns with what we do and what we believe in — connecting story and experience and joy.”
